Is Florence For Me?

First of all, congratulations! By deciding to study abroad in Italy, you’ve taken the first step toward living and learning in another country. We can list many reasons why you should choose Florence for your study abroad experience in Italy—the prime location, our state-of-the-art facilities, our outstanding student body, our engaging course offerings—but don’t just listen to us. Instead, we surveyed our alumni and asked them why they chose ISI Florence and included some of their answers below.

The Jewel of Italy

Florence is a Renaissance dream reborn in the modern era. Bordered by iconic pine- and cypress-dotted hills, lush vineyards, and olive groves, the Florence of today is an innovative European cultural center, as well as a thriving university city. Students walk the same medieval cobblestones as Dante, gaze upon the stunning masterpieces of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, and practice their Italian in the shadow of Brunelleschi’s dome.

At every turn, students have the opportunity to engage in the practical application of their studies in the vibrant melting pot of Florence, a place where the past meets the present every day.

Dedicated Faculty

ISI Abroad is committed to the highest standard of academic excellence. The small, vibrant community of scholars and researchers at the Institute has a demonstrated track record of teaching excellence.

Every professor is dedicated to delivering engaging, challenging, and meaningful material, employing on-site and experiential learning as a fundamental part of the curriculum. Our instructors and the exciting curriculum they offer are one of the main reasons students study through ISI Abroad.

Safe, Affordable, & Central

In Florence, you will live, study, and explore Florentine life from the city’s historic center. All our facilities and student apartments are centrally located within a short walk of each other.

Apart from our prestigious facilities, we also offer competitive program and tuition rates for a full-service experience which includes pre-departure assistance, airport pick-up, orientation, apartments with Wi-Fi, 24/7 emergency assistance, a variety of co- and extra-curricular activities, institute facilities use, student help desk, farewell party, and academic transcript. Assistance is always there when you need it!

Getting Involved

Our faculty and staff work together each semester to integrate as many community-based opportunities with your course work as possible. This is done through a blend of day trips, local site visits, practica, and even internships! It doesn’t stop there. Many of our students also sign up for Community Engagement opportunities!

Through Community Engagement students can do all sorts of things to integrate locally. A handful of activities include leading groups through iconic museums, working with children, volunteering with the local synagogue, or supporting a cooperative that employs individuals with disabilities. In Florence, there is always something to do!

Stupendous Student Services

Our Student Services team supports you from the moment you arrive in Florence. We welcome you at the airport in Florence before showing you around your new home away from home. We don’t stop with a standard orientation, the team also offers a day trip into the Chianti region at the start of the semester, to give you a taste of the weekend adventures to come.

Student Services staff are dedicated and have a range of their own international experiences to share. You can talk to them about anything from where to find an English-speaking healthcare professional to what their favorite restaurant is in Florence (or Paris!).
